The ACTFL Language Learning for Children Special Interest Group (LLC SIG) is pleased to announce that we will be establishing the Dr. Patricia (Pattie) Davis-Wiley Award for language teachers and administrators in honor of our beloved colleague, Pattie Davis-Wiley, who was an incredible scholar and very involved in the ACTFL LLC SIG for many years.

This award recognizes an individual's dedication and commitment to the language teaching profession in grades PreK-8. The Dr. Patricia (Pattie) Davis-Wiley Award will be given to an ACTFL member of the LLC SIG who teaches or administrates for grades PreK-8. • Local, regional, and national impact on language teaching and learning in grades PreK-8
  • Leadership and contributions at regional and national levels, active participation in professional organizations
  • Community collaboration (between schools, businesses, non-profits, and/or civic institutions)

Candidates may self-nominate and all candidates should look at the scoring rubric.

We are looking forward to honoring Pattie's memory as we select a recipient for the award! The award will be presented at the ACTFL Convention and Expo in Chicago, November 17-19, 2023, so make your plans to attend now! Submission Deadline is September 8, 2023.
