ACTFL Announces Regional Finalists for 2015 ACTFL National Teacher of the Year Program

Alexandria, VA—The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) is proud to announce the five finalists for its annual ACTFL National Teacher of the Year Award. The finalists representing the five geographic regions of the U.S. are:

  • Hannah Gonzalez: Mt. Hebron High School, Woodbine, MD— Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages
  • Brandee Mau: Campbell County High School, Gillette, WY— Pacific Northwest Council for Languages
  • Nicole Naditz: Bella Vista High School, Fair Oaks, CA— Southwest Conference on Language Teaching
  • Pamela Reynolds: Siloam Springs High School, Siloam Springs, AR— Southern Conference on Language Teaching
  • Carrie Toth: Carlyle High School, Carlyle, IL— Central States Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages

The award for the ACTFL National Language Teacher of the Year is intended to elevate the status of the language teaching profession at the state, regional, and national levels by creating opportunities for recognizing the most accomplished members of the profession. The Language Teacher of the Year becomes a spokesperson for the language profession in order to increase the visibility of the importance of learning languages and cultures to the general public.

The official 2015 National Language Teacher of the Year will be announced at the Opening General Session of ACTFL’s Annual Convention, in San Antonio, TX on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 8:30 – 10 am in Grand Ballroom C in the Henry Gonzalez Convention Center.
