ACTFL and Language Testing International (LTI), the exclusive licensee of ACTFL assessments, are proud to announce the launch of the 2022-23 ACTFL Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages (AAPPL) on September 15, 2022. The test items encompass a variety of topics.

The 2022-23 AAPPL will be available in 11 languages, including the reintroduction of Russian for a limited time. The test is currently available in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese-Mandarin, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. This year’s test also continues to feature the updated format of the Advanced Interpretive Listening (IL) and Interpretive Reading (IR) test items introduced in 2021.

AAPPL, developed by ACTFL and administered by LTI, is an assessment of proficiency and performance designed to complement classroom-based language learning. As an assessment of K-12 standards-based tasks across the three modes of communication, as defined by the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages, AAPPL assesses Interpretive Reading, Interpretive Listening, Interpersonal Listening & Speaking, and Presentational Writing.

Detailed information about the AAPPL, including information on scores and reporting and helpful tips, can be found on the ACTFL website. Meet some of the 2022-23 AAPPL video chat partners here.

The 2022-23 AAPPL content will be available for orders on September 15, 2022. Tests ordered through September 14 will receive the 2021-22 test content. For information on ordering the AAPPL, visit LTI.
