2022 ACTFL National Language Teacher of the Year Announced
ACTFL is pleased to announce the 2022 National Language Teacher of the Year has been awarded to Heather Sweetser, an Arabic instructor at the University of New Mexico (UNM), and a regional finalist representing the Southwest Conference on Language Teaching (SWCOLT). The award presentation was held during the Opening General Session of the 2021 Virtual ACTFL Convention & World Languages Expo on Friday, November 19.

Lead with Languages Announces 2021 Teacher Scholarships
ACTFL and its Lead with Languages campaign are pleased to announce the selection of ten 2021 awardees of the Lead with Languages Teacher Scholarship Program which provides merit-based funding to graduating high school seniors committed to pursuing the language teaching profession in languages other than English.

ACTFL is pleased to announce that Dr. Celia Chomón Zamora has been named Director of Professional Learning and Certification at ACTFL, effective July 1, 2021.
ACTFL Announces Four New Board Members for 2021
ACTFL is pleased to announce four new members of its Board of Directors. Victoria Russell of Valdosta State University (GA) and United States Air Force Academy (CO); Maria Carreira of California State University, Long Beach, and National Heritage Language Resource Center (NHLRC); Pam Benton of Pinellas County Schools (FL); and Jeenna Canché of Maui High School (HI) will each begin their terms on January 1, 2021.
