ACTFL is pleased to announce the appointment of Lidia Gault as Foreign Language Annals (FLA) Graduate Publications Intern. A Ph.D. candidate in Second Language Acquisition at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ms. Gault has taught Russian for over 10 years and worked as a Research Assistant on the U.S. Department of Education Title VI study of speaking proficiency outcomes in face-to-face and remote intensive language programs. A certified OPI tester in Russian, Ms. Gault has extensive experience in the higher education setting.
As the FLA Graduate Publications intern, Ms. Gault will work with FLA Co-Editors Dr. Kristin Davin and Dr. Francis Troyan to review pre-publication journal articles, analyze metrics for the journal and hold FLA article discussion sessions and information sessions on publishing in FLA for graduate students. The goal of the internship is to provide a meaningful, relevant, and useful experience for a future leader and researcher in world language education on the process of publishing a professional journal. Dr. Francis Troyan, FLA Co-Editor, states, “The quality of applicants was outstanding, and Lidia’s extensive research and teaching background have prepared her for this role. Kristin and I look forward to our collaboration with her.” Martha Abbott, ACTFL’s Interim Executive Director, continued, “Research is one of our strategic pillars; Lidia’s internship with FLA will not only support the journal’s goals, but also provide additional outreach to graduate students and other emerging scholars.”
