ACTFL and Language Testing International (LTI), the exclusive licensee of ACTFL assessments, are pleased to announce that the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT®) has evaluated and once again recommended college credit for five ACTFL language proficiency assessments: ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI), ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview Computer (OPIc), ACTFL Reading Proficiency Test (RPT), ACTFL Listening Proficiency Test (LPT), and ACTFL Writing Proficiency (WPT). This recommendation is in effect through May 31, 2027. ACTFL assessments are the only assessments officially rated according to the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines and are only administered through LTI.
New to the ACE college credit recommendations for ACTFL assessments is the addition of 2 Lower Division credits (LD) credits for receiving a score of Intermediate Mid on the ACTFL Reading Proficiency Test (RPT).
“We are extremely pleased that after an extensive review ACE has continued their credit recommendation of these five key assessments," said Dr. Margaret Malone, ACTFL Director of Assessment and Research. “The ACE credit recommendation increases the accessibility of world language learning, celebrates language proficiency gained outside of the classroom by populations such as heritage learners and highlights the value of meaningful assessment of language acquisition through proficiency.”
