ACTFL and Language Testing International (LTI), the exclusive licensee of ACTFL assessments, announce the launch of the 2024-25 ACTFL Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages (AAPPL) on September 15, 2024. The AAPPL is the only test with items that address a variety of topics across all modes of communication: Interpersonal Listening and Speaking (ILS), Presentational Writing (PW), and Interpretive Reading and Interpretive Listing (IR and IL). The AAPPL tasks are informed by the functions described in the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines and it is the only test with official ACTFL ratings assigned according to the ACTFL Performance Descriptors for Language Learners.
The 2024-25 AAPPL forms are available in 11 languages: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. The AAPPL, through LTI, is third-party certified for compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), strengthening the commitment to safeguard learners’ personal identifiable information (PII).
The AAPPL, developed by ACTFL and administered by LTI, is an assessment of performance toward proficiency, designed to complement classroom-based language learning. As defined by the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages, the AAPPL is a standards-based assessment of tasks across the three modes of communication.
Detailed information about the AAPPL, including information on scores and reporting and helpful tips, can be found on the ACTFL website.
The 2024-25 AAPPL content will be available for order on and after September 15, 2024. For information on ordering the AAPPL, visit LTI.
