ACTFL Member Video Guide: How to Record Your Story

Thank you for sharing your experience! Your story will help fellow educators understand the real impact of ACTFL membership.
1. Keep it short and focused
- Aim for 30-45 seconds
- Speak naturally - no script needed
2. Answer these simple prompts
You don’t need to answer all of them, but 1–2 is perfect:
- How has ACTFL helped your career?
- What specific benefit, resource, or experience made the biggest impact?
- How has your teaching, leadership, or professional growth changed as a result?
3. Recording tips (simple but important)
- Use your phone or computer - whatever is easiest
- Record in a quiet, well-lit space (facing a window works great)
- Position the camera at eye level
- Make sure your face is clearly visible (head and shoulders framing)
4. Audio matters
- Speak clearly and at a normal pace
- Avoid background noise if possible
5. Be yourself
- Authentic, honest stories are the most powerful
- It’s okay if it’s not perfect - we’re looking for real experiences, not polished performances
6. File details
- Format: .mp4
- Orientation: Horizontal (landscape) is best, but vertical is okay
