Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Scholarship

The School of Modern Greek Language of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has been offering courses in Greek language and culture to foreigners and Greeks from abroad since 1970 and operates ever since under the supervision of the Faculty of Philosophy.


The School also offers tailor-made courses for specific purposes and seminars for teachers of Greek, as well. It participates in research programs and educational programs in collaboration with domestic and foreign carriers. It also organizes exams for the attainment in Greek language, a prerequisite for foreigners to enroll in a Greek University.

The educational staff of the School has a rich teaching experience, and is also involved in the production of teaching material.

The School’s role is not limited to teaching Greek. It also emphasizes various activities and cultural functions and hosts hundreds of students from all over the world, creating a multicultural environment. Therefore, the students get acquainted with the Greek way of life and enjoy contact with different people within the lively and warm atmosphere of the city of Thessaloniki.

Greek Intensive 3-week Summer Course Scholarship: The scholarship runs from July 4– 22, 2022, and is open for anyone wishing to learn Greek as L2. The courses available cover all levels, from A1 to C1, that is from novice to advanced.

The scholarship includes:

  • Tuition (243€ value)

The scholarship does not include:

All other expenses, including course materials, registration fee (50€), meals, airfare, airport transfers, accommodations, personal expenses, or weekend travels.

To be eligible an applicant must be:

  • Current ACTFL member (membership must be paid through March 2022 to be eligible)
  • Once selected, the scholarship recipient must be able to present the following required documents:
    • Passport/ Visa/ Resident Permit
    • Certified copy for the certificate of studies and its official translation into Greek or English.
    • Copy of the bank deposit of registration fee

ACTFL has the right to provide your name and contact information to the scholarship provider.
