National Language Teacher of the Year

Agreement Form

I understand that as the ACTFL National Language Teacher of the Year, I will serve in the following roles:

  • Act as a spokesperson for the language profession and ACTFL by attending conferences, giving presentations, and making personal appearances at various events as permitted by my teaching schedule.
    • Notify the Language Connects Foundation (LCF) Team if I plan to attend public events in my role as Teacher of the Year outside of the regional conferences (Central States, NECTFL, PNCFL, SCOLT, SWCOLT) to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Attend the ACTFL Convention as the immediate past Teacher of the Year, attend the Assembly of Delegates (AOD) luncheon with finalists and provide remarks.
  • Attend the annual Teacher of the Year reception during Convention, as the immediate past Teacher of the Year.
  • Provide a first-person account of my experience as ACTFL National Language Teacher of the Year when invited and/or requested.
  • Participate in one or more virtual introductory meetings with rising Teacher of the Year regional finalists as well as other aspiring language educators and champions, facilitated by the LCF Team.

I understand that LCF will cover the below expenses during my tenure:

  • Registration (via ACTFL Communications Coordinator), airfare (via my individual Concur profile), and hotel expenses (via LCF Awards Coordinator by credit authorization) for regional conference attendance.
  • Registration (via ACTFL Communications Coordinator), airfare (via my individual Concur profile), and hotel expenses (via LCF Awards Coordinator by credit authorization) for the ACTFL Convention—as a finalist and as immediate past Teacher of the Year.
  • Airfare and hotel expenses to Washington, D.C. to meet with the Secretary of Education (and other potential meetings with key advocates, as discussed).
  • Substitute teacher costs (paid to the district) if needed.

Photo & Video Release

  • I grant to ACTFL and LCF, its representatives, and employees, the right to use my or my organization’s videos/photos including using and publishing it electronically.
  • I agree that ACTFL and LCF may use my videos/photos for any lawful purpose, including but not limited to publicity, illustration, advertising, and Web content, so long as ACTFL and LCF gives me credit as the creator/owner of the video.
  • If the videos/photos I upload depicts any individuals other than myself, it is my responsibility to provide ACTFL and LCF with a signed photo release form for each person shown at the time of submission (releases must include a parent/guardian signature for minors).
