Stipend Awards Program
First-Time Attendee Stipend
ACTFL sponsors the First-Time Attendee Stipend Award program to provide financial assistance in the amount of $500 to registrants for the Full 2023 ACTFL Convention. We invite individuals who have never attended an ACTFL Annual Convention & World Languages Expo to apply.
We particularly encourage New Teachers in their first three years of teaching to apply, as well as individuals who are members of historically underrepresented groups, including but not limited to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), LGBTQIA+ individuals, individuals with disabilities, and individuals working at Title I institutions and/or with a demonstrated financial need.
Application Requirements:
- Applicants must be a member of ACTFL valid through November 30, 2023, at the time their application is submitted.
- Applicants must be registered for the Full Convention at the time their application is submitted.
- Applicants must not have previously attended an ACTFL Convention.
- New Teacher applicants must submit proof with their application that they are within the first three years of their teaching career.

Janet Glass Stipend
The Janet Glass Stipend Fund honors the career of Janet Glass, ACTFL National Language Teacher of the Year in 2008. This fund was established to help elementary language teachers from Janet’s home state of New Jersey attend the ACTFL Convention & World Languages Expo. You do not have to be a first-time attendee or a member of ACTFL to apply.
Applicants must apply to ACTFL by Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Applicants will be notified of the decision by Monday, October 9, 2023. Applicants must have met all the above requirements before applying. Late applications will not be considered.
Note: Applicants can only apply and qualify for one stipend and cannot be a recipient of another stipend the same year.
