Sant’Anna Institute Scholarship

Sant’Anna Institute is pleased to offer two (2) scholarships for two weeks each of Italian language study during the Summer 2017.

Sant’Anna Institute is recognized for excellence in the field of Italian Studies for adult students coming from all the countries of the world, and study abroad programs in partnership with American Universities.

Accreditation is the means of self-regulation and peer review adopted by the educational community. The accrediting process is intended to strengthen and sustain the quality and integrity of higher education by making it worthy of public confidence. Accredited institutions are expected to demonstrate the highest professional and ethical standards.

It is for this reason that we are pleased that Sant'Anna Institute - Sorrento Lingue operates under the authorization of the Italian Ministry of Public Education and is a member of Edu Italia.

  • SUNY Alfred State College – All of Sant’Anna’s academic courses are offered through SUNY Alfred (New York State) which is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Non Alfred State College students can apply to transfer course credits to their home institution by requesting a SUNY Alfred transcript.
  • The EDUITALIA Association brings together universities and schools based in Italy. It welcomes foreign students and researchers, and collaborates actively with the institutions. Its objective is to promote Italian school and university courses and to boost the number of foreign students taking part in them.
  • University for foreigners of Perugia as Authorised Exam Centre for CELI exam - Certificato di Lingua Italiana. The CELI exam conforms with the European standards set by ALTE - Association of Language Testers in Europe - and by the Council of Europe.
  • University for Foreigners of Siena as an Authorized Exam Center for DITALS (The Certificate for Teachers of Italian as a foreign language).
  • Sweden’s CSN (Swedish National Agency for Higher education) to apply for Swedish students loans for study purposes.
  • GRUNDTVIG - Professional Development Course for Teachers of Italian as a Foreign Language
  • ASILS, The Association of Schools of Italian as a Second Language, with member schools well-represented in the various regions of Italy, is designed to guarantee the quality of instruction and professional level of services offered to students.
  • NIAF, National American Foundation A non-profit, non-partisan educational foundation that promotes Italian American culture and heritage.
  • AAIS - The American Association for Italian Studies
  • CSIS - The Canadian Society for Italian Studies
  • Forum on Education Abroad
  • AAUSC: American Association of University Supervisors and Coordinators.

The scholarship includes:

  • tuition and learning material

The scholarship winner is responsible for all travel to and accommodations in Sorrento, Italy and any personal expenses and optional activities.

To be eligible a candidate must be:

  • Currently a teacher of Italian at a high school, college or university level, prefer an experienced teacher
  • Current ACTFL member (membership must be paid through March 2017 to be eligible)
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of interest and motivation for the course of study offered
  • Able to show institutional support; and
  • Willing to share the experience gained with colleagues and others.
