French in Normandy Scholarship

Since 1992, French in Normandy has offered a winning combination to those wishing to learn French or to improve their language skills. The scholarship may be used during the following dates in 2019:

April 15-19
June 17 – 21
July 15 – 26
November 4 – 9

Rouen is famous for its cathedral and Joan of Arc, also for its Impressionist landscapes. FIN offers first-rate teaching in a personalized study environment and an exciting socio-cultural programme in a beautiful, historic region with a cuisine and cheeses famous even for France!

As well as general French courses and courses for school groups from 10 years upwards, FIN offer specific purposes French courses for one-on-one and small professional groups and DILF, DELF DALF and the TCF, DPF tests and diplomas, as well as teacher training in methodology.

French in Normandy also offers mature learners language and leisure courses such as French and Cooking, which give students a chance to discover the best in regional produces and recipes.

Scholarship recipients may choose between one or two-week courses, for approximately 25 hours of instruction per week. Three (3) scholarships will be awarded for those at the intermediate level looking to improve their language skills (not for advanced, superior, or distinguished level speakers), Two (2) scholarships will be awarded to current methods teachers to help them teach more efficiently and successfully.

The scholarship includes:

  • Registration
  • Tuition
  • Learning materials
  • Internet access

The scholarship winner is responsible for all travel and accommodation to France, meals, and any personal expenses and optional activities.

To be eligible an applicant must be:

  • Current ACTFL member (membership must be paid through March 2019 to be eligible)
  • For the language course, applicants must be at the intermediate level proficiency. Advanced and native speakers are not eligible.
  • For the methods course, applicants must be a current methods teacher to apply.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of interest and motivation for the course of study offered
  • Able to show institutional support, through a letter of support
  • Willing to share the experience gained with colleagues and others

ACTFL has the right to provide your name and contact information to the scholarship provider.

The deadline to apply for this award is February 28, 2019. Applicants will be notified of a decision by the end of March 2019.
