Are You Involved With Professional Organizations Beyond World Languages?

TIP: If you are involved with other education organizations (i.e., local, state and national education associations), there may be multiple opportunities to advocate for language education that you have not necessarily recognized.

Teacher associations have a political component and there are often opportunities to “volunteer lobby” decision-makers at the local, state and national levels. If you deliver a message on behalf of the union, you can also insert a message about world language education.

Always think of yourself as a “language education advocate” in whatever situation you may find yourself! You never know which decision-maker is listening and what impact your advocacy will have.
