Language Advocacy Resource Center

Greater access to high-quality language learning at the local, state, and federal levels leads to closer communities, a stronger economy, and greater national security.

However, the decision to cut language education programs has become a more common practice in the U.S., with official reasons often citing the lack of financial support for lower-enrollment subject areas, prioritization of STEM, focus on a monolingual society that uses English only, and the devaluing of intense intercultural and immersion experiences.

Every time we raise our voices in support of the educators, programs, and policies that promote language learning, we are serving as advocates for language education—and every voice makes a difference. Such efforts are vital to help sustain and expand programs in all educational settings, including PreK-12, higher-education, and community-based.

Please share these resources broadly with the language champions in your network. Our Media Kit includes sample social media posts, graphics, and a ready to use flyer to post in your school.
