E2: Web Tools for Digital Storytelling*

With storytelling as a focus, this workshop provides hands-on practice with a number of tools to accomplish the task with pizzazz! Participants will learn how to use free, easy, online applications for the story creation process from storyboard to evaluation - tools your students will have fun using to create their stories in the target language! Discussion will include the advantages and challenges of a variety of storytelling tools that integrate multimedia, foster collaboration, and share student
work with a larger audience.

E3: Technology Tools for Communication & Assessment*

This learner-focused hands-on workshop updates your language curriculum with current technology use by working with innovative practices that provide opportunities for students to demonstrate language proficiency through communication as well as how and with what tools communication can be assessed. Enables students to use today’s technology to communicate in meaningful ways in the target language. Learn to channel tools students already know how to use (texting, enhancing photos) into rich assessable communicative content.

E4: Using Emerging Technologies for Collaboration*

This hands-on workshop familiarizes participants with using 21st century technologies for a variety of collaborative purposes. Emerging technologies for such activities as student collaborative projects, cross-cultural exchanges, and peer editing/review will be examined. Participants will have the opportunity to enrich their language content by connecting their students: for collaborations that can be school-based, reach out to the community, connect with experts, or even overseas partners.

E5: 21st Century Tools to Teach, Learn, Collaborate, & Advocate

How do teachers engage students in 21st century learning using the many online tools? Through video clips, “how to” explanation handouts and discussion, participants will examine such online tools as Wikispaces, Vokis, Toondoo, Wordle, Flickr tools, Piclits, Twitter, Facebook and many more. Participants will also learn the steps for digital storytelling, making PowerPoint movies and creating online slideshows. Finally, participants will look at Bloom’s taxonomy and its role in critical thinking strategies. You will amaze your students with your new skills.
