Discover Russian

Summer Professional Development Program for Teachers of Russian

WHAT: An intensive two-week program that will allow you to participate in professional development that will focus on quality instruction, curriculum and assessments for Russian programs. 

WHO: This program is open to both current teachers of Russian and those who are interested in teaching Russian.

WHERE: There will be two program sessions, one in Glastonbury Public Schools, Glastonbury, CT and the other in Fairfax County, VA.

WHEN: Both programs are offered July 15-26, 2013 (including weekends). 

There is no cost to teachers selected for the program. Each teacher will receive a $400 travel stipend after successful program completion. Limited housing is available for teachers who reside outside the local area. Graduate credits are available.

 


Discover Chinese
Summer Professional Development Program for Teachers of Chinese

WHAT: An intensive two-week program that will allow you to participate in professional development that will focus on quality instruction, curriculum and assessments for Chinese programs.

WHO: This program is open to both current teachers of Mandarin Chinese and those who are interested in teaching Chinese.

WHERE: Glastonbury Public Schools, Glastonbury, CT

WHEN: Two program dates are available: July 1-12, 2013 (no classes July 4th) (Interdisciplinary Teaching in the Chinese Classroom) and July 15-26, 2013 (Standards-Based Instruction in Chinese Language: From Theory to Practice).

There is no cost to teachers selected for the program. Each teacher will receive a $400 travel stipend after successful program completion. Limited housing is available for teachers who reside outside the local area. Graduate credits are available.

 


Discover Russian
Summer Academic Program for Students

WHAT: A non-residential program that will allow beginning students of Russian to develop both speaking and writing abilities as well as the understanding of Russian culture. The program will include classroom instruction as well as cultural field trips.

WHO: Rising 7th-12th grade students in Glastonbury, CT, and rising 7th-12th grade students in Fairfax County, VA. This is a non-residential program for students who reside in the Glastonbury and Fairfax areas.

WHEN AND WHERE: July 1-26, 2013 from approximately 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday through Friday (no classes July 4th).

COST: There is a $150 tuition fee due upon acceptance into the program.

Students accepted into the program receive a partial scholarship. No transportation is provided.

Summer Academic Program for Students

WHAT: An intensive four-week non-residential program that will allow beginning and intermediate students of Chinese to develop both speaking and writing abilities as well as the understanding of Chinese culture. The program will include classroom instruction as well as cultural field trips.

WHO: Rising 7th - 12th grade students who are highly motivated and enthusiastic about learning Mandarin Chinese in an intensive program. This is a non-residential program for students who reside in the Glastonbury and Wallingford, CT areas.

WHERE: Students will have the option of applying to participate in the Glastonbury Public Schools program for rising 7th - 12th graders (Glastonbury, CT) or the Choate Rosemary Hall program for rising 9th - 12th graders (Wallingford, CT).

WHEN: July 1-26, 2013 from approximately 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday through Friday (no classes July 4).

COST: There is a $150 tuition fee due upon acceptance into the program.

Students accepted into the program receive a partial scholarship. No transportation is provided.

 


Discover Arabic
Summer Academic Program for Students

WHAT: An intensive four-week non-residential program that will allow beginning and intermediate students of Arabic to develop both speaking and writing abilities as well as the understanding of cultures of the Middle East. The program will include classroom instruction as well as cultural field trips.

WHO: Rising 7th - 12th grade students who are highly motivated and enthusiastic about learning Arabic in an intensive program. This is a non-residential program for students who reside in the Glastonbury and Wallingford, CT areas.

WHERE: Glastonbury Public Schools, Glastonbury, CT.

WHEN: July 1-26, 2013 from approximately 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday through Friday (no classes July 4).
