ACTFL Arabic Special Interest Group (SIG)

Formed Nov. 2008, click here to add this SIG to your ACTFL membership.

The mission of the ACTFL Arabic SIG will be as follows.

The Arabic SIG serves as a key link in the networking system of Arabic language and culture instructors in the United States and else where. In particular, its focus is the increasing importance and the continuing professional needs of Arabic instructors K-16. It aims to foster professionalism and professional standards, and to share information on professional development opportunities. It aims to assist administrators, language program coordinators, and faculty in designing curricula and in evaluating methodologies; to provide information on materials and materials development; and to provide information on successful Arabic study abroad programs.

The Arabic SIG also aims to foster best practices in teaching both colloquial and written Arabic, and to provide a venue where new ideas and contemporary practices can be discussed. To this end, it actively encourages the sharing of research findings and instructional successes in the teaching of Arabic as a foreign language.

What Our Members Are Saying

The ACTFL Convention & World Languages Expo is unparalleled as far as the variety and richness of sessions and workshops. It’s exciting to see first-time attendees when they enter the exhibit hall and discover all the latest resources, technology, and advocacy that is available to them. Once you attend the annual convention, you’ll be hooked and want to return year after year.
