Introducing ACTFL Proficiency Testing to Brazil—ACTFL OPI Familiarization Workshop

White Plains, NY – The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and Language Testing International (LTI) are pleased to announce “ACTFL-Brazil 2014,” an international language initiative designed to promote awareness and education and teaching and testing for proficiency in Brazil. The inaugural event for ACTFL-Brazil 2014 will take place at the Associação Alumni, na Chácara Santo Antonio, à rua Rua Umberto Caputi, 65, on October 18, 2014 in Sao Paulo, Brazil with a full-day Familiarization Workshop on the concepts and principles of language proficiency according to the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines (www.actflproficiencyguidelines2012.org).  The Workshop is open to all language educators and will be offered in both English and Portuguese.  There is no registration fee for the workshop. A Certificate of Participation will be issued for those attending the full day session.  A Reception to celebrate the launch will take place immediately after the workshop.  

Following the inaugural event on October 18th, ACTFL will arrange workshops, training, and other professional development events with the goal of making language proficiency the standard for graduation and other academic and private sector credentialing in Brazil. ACTFL will be working with a representative group of academic scholars, private sector individuals, and the public to support testing initiatives, sponsor research on language testing, and ensure the ongoing success and growth of ACTFL proficiency testing in Brazil for all languages.
