March Focus:  Connecting Language to Other Areas

No matter what career path one takes, it is likely that the knowledge of languages will be useful and, in many cases, necessary.  In order to conduct business worldwide, corporations are finding that it is important to be able to understand the language and culture of one's clients.  It is important for students to know that no matter what area they intend to study or what training they intend to get after high school or college, the knowledge of languages other than English will be important.  The national event this month focused on people who use languages in their career on a daily basis.  It was hosted by the University of Missouri in St. Louis on March 30 and was videotaped for later downstreaming from this web site.

For an update on the March 30th event, visit the University of Missouri's website:  http://www.umsl.edu/~conted/flc/events.htm

This event was held on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus on March 30, at the J.C. Penney Conference Center auditorium. The J.C. Penney Conference Center auditorium has a capacity of 450 seats. Parking is available in Lot C.
