Languages: Gateway to Global Communities
The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Annual Convention and World Languages Expo brings together more than 6,000 teachers, administrators, method instructors and students of foreign languages at all levels from across the world. The convention features over 600 educational sessions on such topics as: Assessment, Culture, Curriculum, Learner Variables, Literature, Materials, Methods/Techniques, Policy/Issues, Professional Development, Research, Specific Purposes, Standards and Technology.
Language educators are invited to submit upcoming events and deadlines of interest to the foreign language profession. These listings will appear exactly as you enter them, so please double-check your information before hitting submit. NOTE: The "Through Date" on the submission form should be used for the deadline date for the grant, call, survey, etc.

43RD ANNUAL MEETING OF THE BRITISH ASSOCIATION FOR APPLIED LINGUISTICS Theme: "Applied Linguistics: Global and Local" 9 - 11 September 2010 University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland BAAL 2010 will be held at the University of Aberdeen. The conference will be organised by the School of Language and Literature and the Centre for Linguistic Research. The University campus is located close to the city centre in the historic Village of Old Aberdeen and within easy reach of railway and bus stations. Aberdeen airport is served by regular flights with low-cost airlines from cities across the British Isles and Europe. Aberdeen, Scotland's third city, is known by many names: the granite city, the oil capital of Europe, and the silver city by the golden sands, all of these encapsulating various aspects of the city. Aberdeen has two universities, a 5 star Maritime Museum, a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, tea rooms, and a wide range of cultural, entertainment, and shopping attractions. The Aberdeen- Grampian area boasts dozens of castles, coastal roads, golf courses and plenty of cultural attractions. We are confident that it will provide an inspiring conference experience too.
